Meditation Garden ~2000 SF
Inspiration for this design is based on the traditions of a Japanese Tea Garden while respecting the high desert climate. Entrance is through the main gate into the courtyard then a walk along a narrow garden pathway leading to the main house entrance or proceeding to the back yard. In this way, the garden can be experienced along the way, shedding cares & anxieties before entering the residence.
Essential tea garden elements are gates, the water basin, the path, stones, lanterns, subtle plantings & the tea house. Each of these elements are interpreted in some way throughout the garden.
The goal of this design is to create a formal, front entrance to offset the awkward side placement of the main entrance to the residence while providing a secure, private space, screened from the street.
